Vision Statement

"Frankston Theatre Group seeks to be a vital, financially sound organization
committed to presenting a broad range of theatrical work to the widest possible audience,
at a very high level of quality, while affording members the opportunity to develop and contribute their skills
for their own satisfaction and for the entertainment of the public."

Who We Are

For more than seventy years Frankston Theatre Group has continuously provided opportunities for involvement in community theatre. Starting with a fundraising activity for the Red Cross in 1942, the group quickly developed with the enthusiastic support of the Frankston Community.

A founding member member of the Victorian Drama League, FTG hosted their early one act play festivals that ran for several weeks, drawing entrants from all over the metropolitan area. The group has consistently presented three to four productions annually, including seasons of one act or short plays, providing an ideal showcase for new actors and directors.

Encouraged by their experiences in community theatre, many members have gone on to undertake formal studies and pursue professional careers in the performing arts.

Where We Are

From the 1940s until 2001, FTG regularly performed in the Frankston Mechanic's Hall, which was rebuilt after a fire in 1954. Other venues used include local High school auditoriums, St James the Less Church Hall, Mt Eliza Community Centre, George Jenkins Theatre, and since its opening in 1995, the Frankston Arts Centre Theatre and more recently Cube 37.
