Ranters Theatre
The reasons for starting the company came from a belief among us that most theatre culture in Australia was not responsive enough to being 'live'. It is a culture that by and large does not allow enough time for the actor to completely inhabit the work, determined as it is by a short rehearsal period where the work is not explored but rather 'staged' or 'presented' with formal constraints. We wanted to work in a way that allowed the actor to free up their unconscious creativity.
